32 Years of Miracles
Every year for the past 32 years, the holiday season in Buffalo begins with the magic and spirit of the annual Festival of Trees, a benefit for Women & Children’s.
A committee of volunteers gives of their time and talent to create a wonderland of beautiful trees and holiday displays for all of Western New York to enjoy. The entire family can experience the beautifully decorated indoor displays and holiday room settings while enjoying the wonder and magic of our incredible holiday-themed events which take place during the two week display at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
Since its inception, the Festival has generated well over $5 million to enhance medical care for children and women. Listed below are just some of the machinery and equipment made possible by Festival of Trees to help Women & Children’s Hospital in our mission.

- Raised dollars to help with the purchase a $1.5 million CT Scan - This machine will provide high-speed scanning, unmatched image quality, and offer significant benefits to the patient - above all, comfort and safety
- Purchased a state-of-the-art Ultrasound Machine - $200,000 - it is the premier standard for use at children’s hospitals across the US
- Superior image quality and clinic use
- Ability to manipulate images resulting in improved diagnosis and can be used to rule out certain diseases as well
- Exams can be completed in shorter periods of time
- It can be used by physicians in visualizing blood vessels to insert catheters for procedures
- This machine will be universal and can be used for all patients from the premature infants to adolescent to adults
- A Digital Radiography Room in Emergency Room
- Family Care Suite - 8th Floor Hematology / Oncology
- Neurosurgical Operating Room
- Cardiac Catheterization Lab
- Giraffe Beds –State-of-the-Art Beds for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Funding for $4.5 million Renovation and Expansion of NICU
- Funding for $5 million Renovation and Expansion of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
- Very first ECMO Machine – Extra corporeal Membrane Oxygenation – a heart/lung
bypass for newborns and children - Equipped a Multi-Specialty Procedure Room for less invasive same-day surgical procedures
2009 Tops Friendly Markets Gas & Groceries Winner
Tops Friendly Markets Store Manager, Gary Thauer, and store associates are excited to present the grand prize $10,000 in Gas & Groceries to Mark Mitschang of Arcade. The contest is an event sponsored by Tops Friendly Markets in support of the annual Festival of Trees and Women & Children’s Hospital. The drawing was held November 21st at the Hyatt Regency Hotel during the Black Tie Gala and more than $76,000 was donated by Tops to the Hospital.
